Alan Shore helps Denny Crane defend himself in court when he is sued for firing an associate for being fat; and Whitney Rome and Katie Lloyd take on a murder case in which the DA plans to use a functional MRI as evidence to prove that the accused former cop is a racist. Meanwhile, Carl Sack represents Clarence Bell when he sues an online site for posting an unflattering video of him as "Clarice"; Jerry is overcome with anxiety when he feels it's time to give his very first kiss to former client Leigh - a fellow Asperger's syndrome sufferer and objectophile - whom he's been dating; and Alan mulls over the thought of having a real, adult relationship with Lorraine Weller.

"Last night I went to bed with a book, not nearly as much fun as a 29 year old, but the book contained a speech by Adlai Stevenson. The year was 1952, he said 'The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear in which we live and fear breeds repression. Too often sinister threats to the Bill of Rights, to freedom of the mind, are concealed under the cloak of anti-Communism.' Today, it's the cloak of anti-Terrorism. Stevenson also remarked that it's far easier to fight for principles than to live up to them. I know we are all afraid, but the Bill of Rights, we have to live up to that, we simply must."
